New painting - Druid at Whitehawk camp

This new canvas is the largest oil painting I've made so far - 100cm x 120cm

It shows Smudge as Druid as though she has been projected into the present from the bronze age finding herself in her old environs but now the valley is full of lights and buildings, cars and tourists.

She sees through it all however and presents her transcendence of the modern era in a look.

The piece utilises contrasting painting techniques - the Druid herself is painted thinly and blended but not as far as photo-realism, the cloth of her robe is more gestural.

The background is thoroughly blended and then impasto pallet knife marks pick out the foliage surrounding her as if she is encased in dense reflective blackness.

The decorative elements are painted in Titan Ora enamel.
